Colorado’s new C-Lab will explore blockchain and emerging technologies
The Colorado Department for Higher Education (CDHE) has announced the launch of the Colorado Education Work Lab (C-Lab), a facility that will connect educators with leading technology experts to find solutions for longstanding challenges in education.
Launched in partnership with Learning Economy, the future-facing C-Lab will provide the state of Colorado with a unified but decentralised ecosystem for innovation, pilots, research, and collaboration for the future of education and work.
The C-Lab is set to incubate and launch a statewide Colorado Learning Ledger and Skills Graph, standing as a national leader and model for 21st century learning and work infrastructure.
“We are incredibly excited about the Colorado Education Work Lab,” said Chris Purifoy, CEO and Chairman of Learning Economy.

“It represents a first-of-its-kind ‘biodome’ experiment for blockchain and education, connecting the entire state into a decentralised 21st century education and workplace infrastructure. It will provide a model for other states and nations. They say one pilot can change the world, and I would say the same for one C-Lab.”
The CDHE works with colleges and universities across Colorado to make higher education affordable, accessible and equitable for all. Through exploration of various emerging technologies such as blockchain, the C-Lab will inspire collaboration between educators and tech professionals, looking to provide an education that serves future industry needs.
“We’re excited to facilitate opportunities for educational innovation in our state,” said Dr. Angie Paccione, executive director of CDHE. “Through the C-Lab collaboration, we are calling on both educators and industry to action to help us meet our aggressive goals of increasing statewide educational attainment.”
Next steps for C-Lab include a convening of educators, innovators and stakeholders on January 30, 2020. Visit this page for more details.
